After a wild ride that took me from database spelunker to police officer to frozen Minnesotan, I’ve finally found my calling as a digital marketer and user experience advocate in Louisville, Kentucky, jewel of the Ohio River.
I work for a company called ORR Safety Corporation where I (try to) help make it easier for businesses to keep their workers outfitted with life-saving equipment.
No matter where I go, my career trajectory always centers on a single question: what makes people want to do something? In law enforcement, I searched for the negative side of this question: how can we make people not want to victimize others? Today, I’m obsessed with the positive side: how can I help companies want to set up safety programs, how can I help workers want to participate in those programs, and (of course) how can I get them to want to use my company to assist.
The purpose of this blog is to share what I know with you. If you’re in the business of persuasion (spoiler alert: everyone is, all the time) then I want you to get better at it along with me.
There’s only one rule: we use our powers to make life better for people, period. If I find out you’re using this blog to trick people or exploit them, I’m going to come to your house and throw you into the sun.
Don’t follow me on Facebook cuz I don’t have one
Should I get an Instagram?? Ugh fine.
P.S. This blog is my personal blog (paid for it with my own funbux) but I might mention stuff going on at ORR if I think it’s interesting.
